i recently had the pleasure to attend a workshop with the talented shannon sewell. her photography is so fun and her sets are so creative. one of her strengths (she has many!) is in the styling she does for each session, choosing just the right outfit and accessories to match the child and the mood of the environment she is creating. as part of the workshop, we were fortunate to be able to photograph with shannon in a session that she styled. she had some adorable clothing and accessories from lisa’s mini mad hattery, the measure, and knuckleheads. if you are looking for clothing inspiration for your next session, check out these sites for some unique looks for your children.
here is a sampling from one of our beautiful (and very patient!) models.

still catching up from fall sessions…and another sister session to post! this session was full of energy, fun, lots if independence…and beautiful purple wardrobe that contrasted wonderfully with the fading fall backdrop! enjoy!

i love it when i get together with these sisters – i’ve been photographing this pair since I started my business four years ago (when it was a solo instead of duo act!) and it is so exciting to reunite with them each year and see how they’ve grown (and it’s always nice to catch up with mom!). i’m always excited, too, to see what mom has chosen for “the portrait wardrobe”…love how colorful these outfits are against the fall scenery. these outfits were definitely another success! i’m looking forward to our next session together (and can’t wait see the fashions)…

just catching up on blogging my fall sessions. i get a lot of sister sessions, and (since I grew up with only brothers) they are always so much fun for me. not only can you see the bonds of sisterhood already formed, but you can also see that these girls will be each other’s BFF. looking at the smiles on their faces, imagine the secrets they’ll share!

Oh my heavens! Did you notice the date of the last post on my blog? I think that breaks every unwritten rule about blogging, to let your blog go that long without any update! Shame on me!
Where have I been all these months? Seriously, where did the time go since late July! Seems like as my kids get older, life gets busier than ever. Since I last blogged, we spent a week at the beach, added a new cat to the family, started school (entering into a new phase of our family life with a student in middle school now!), got into the groove of fall activities (horse back riding and in-line hockey), sold our beloved horse, learned what life is like with a teen in the house (another new phase as my daughter turned thirteen!), sold a house/bought a house/moved a week before Christmas…even put up a Christmas tree despite the boxes around us! Whew…
But, now I am back, and ready to go. I missed taking pictures of all your beautiful children, and I hope to update my web site and blog with their smiling faces. As I dust off my camera, set up my new home office, contemplate a few new pieces of photography equipment (looking for a new lens to play with!), and make a few tweaks to my site/blog, here are a few images to share with you from my holiday photo session with my kids…

I hope you will check back often as I get caught up – posting images from all of my fall sessions…or better yet, subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss anything new!

a special senior session with my nephew in michigan. he’ll always be a little kid to me, but that’s because admitting that he’s a high school senior somehow forces me to admit that i, too, am getting older!
